The one-room schoolhouse was built in 1820. The main portion of the building measures 24.5' by 23.5', and there is an extension on the north end that measures 16' by 16'9". The building was moved across the street from its original location in 1993. The basic construction was post and beam, and the building received significant restorative work in the late 19th century.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=NRHP nomination for Northeast School )〕 The schoolhouse remained in use until 1937, when a new townwide school was opened. It was sold and used by farmer for storage and as a pighouse.
